HUNTER GROSS 2014-2015

Hunter is currently an associate at Albright Stonebridge Group in Washington, DC. He serves as the China point of contact within the DC office and supports the China team to assist clients in navigating the complexities of contemporary China by conducting research, drafting policy updates and proposals for clients, and helping to develop strategies that often deal with monitoring and navigating the challenges and risks in the Chinese market. In addition to conducting research in Chinese and English and reading Chinese news sources, Hunter takes advantage of every opportunity to use Chinese, whether he is speaking with friends or watching TV shows and movies. Previously, Hunter was a research assistant at the US-China Strong Foundation and interned at Albright Stonebridge Group, Siemens in Tianjin, the Department of State, and the Council on Foreign Relations.

Hunter hopes to apply to government jobs in order to both apply his Chinese skills to a career in public service and to fulfill his Boren Scholarship service requirement. Hunter also plans to pursue graduate studies in Chinese and International Politics, with a long-term goal to become a foreign policy expert on China and to serve as a senior advisor to the U.S. government with the goal of promoting understanding among countries and cooperation among U.S. allies and partners, and especially between the United States and China.

I had an excellent experience in the Overseas Flagship Capstone Program and had many favorite moments. If I had to list a few it would be the excellent friendship I development with my roommate, bonding with our small group of students and teachers, interning at Siemens and traveling to Xi’an with my department, hosting the international students’ winter show, and spending the day with my teacher’s family.

I could not have asked for a better roommate. We spent a lot of time together, eating meals, chatting, and helping me with homework and projects. Having a roommate greatly assisted my language acquisition, and I continue to stay in touch with him.
