The cost of the overseas program is different for Flagship University of Maryland students and at-large applicants. In the academic year 2013-14, University of Maryland students’ cost will be determined soon, which includes tuition, room and board, flights at the beginning and end of the program, administrative costs (visa, registration, etc.), pre-departure orientation, and medical insurance.
At-large applicants will pay directly to American Councils. The difference is due to a higher tuition cost for applicants who are not enrolled at the University of Maryland Flagship program.
In addition to this, all program participants should budget approximately determined soon per academic year to cover local transportation, meals not covered by homestays (weekday lunches), and miscellaneous academic and personal expenses. Of course, this amount may be smaller or larger depending on each student’s lifestyle preferences.
Students applying for Boren scholarships may receive itemized program cost either through the Flagship office at University of Maryland or directly from American Councils (at-large applicants).
