Welcome to the American Councils' homepage for the Overseas Language Flagship Programs! The Overseas Flagship Programs were developed for students who already have advanced skills in a critical language not widely taught in the U.S., and who, through immersion-based intensive language study, want to achieve a superior or professional level of language proficiency. Many Flagship participants have public service career aspirations, but all interested and qualified language students are encouraged to apply.

All Overseas Flagship Programs are funded by The Language Flagship through the Institute of International Education. American Councils administers four Overseas Flagship programs, including: African, Arabic, Persian and Russian.
